Big Idea of the Series: This 4-week series communicates the importance of building bridges and relationships with each other at CrossPointe and in our community.

BUILDING A BRIDGE BY BEING THE CHURCH Acts 2:42-47

Big Idea of Today’s Message: CrossPointe is not a place to visit once a week but a place to get involved.

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles.

Now all the believers were together and held all things in common
Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as any had need. Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house.

They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.” ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:42-47 CSB

THE CHURCH NEEDS YOU!

That we can be better followers of Christ without the church than we can with the church”--”Church isn’t for me”

Instead of people asking the question, What can this church do for me
Instead of people asking the question, What can this church do for me? Why should I bother with going to church? Or who needs church? We want them to ask the question ‘How can I get involved in the church?” Or “What can I do for the church?”

“not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:25‬ ‭CSB‬‬

WHY? The church is the vehicle that meets the true needs of the people through those that get involved in God’s church.

The church does not exist for us
The church does not exist for us. We are the church, and we exist for the world.-Erwin McManus

I believe the church's greatest strength is when God’s people get involved in their church.

The word devoted means: loyal, faithful, committed, dedicated.

When it comes to the church being devoted is not about what you can get out of it but more about what you put into it.

Are you devoted? The greatest skill the church can ever do is teach people to be devoted.

They were devoted to God’s word, God’s people, and God’s mission.
Our devotion is never about us and what we get out of it. Our devotion points back to God and how He can use us.

“Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles.” Acts‬ ‭2:43‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Application: Will you devote yourself to God’s word, God’s people, and God’s mission?

“Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.” Acts‬ ‭2:46-47‬ ‭CSB‬‬

A church following JESUS has no walls, only windows
A church following JESUS has no walls, only windows. Walls focus us to turn inward. Windows call us to look out.--Nick Hall
