ESSA – 339 Plan – CEWS PA’s Proposed ESSA Goals/Indicators
The percentage of students who by the end of grade 5, demonstrate engagement in career exploration and preparation, via PACareerZone or a locally designed career exploration and preparation program/curriculum. The percentage of students who, by the end of grade 8, create an individualized career plan and participate in career preparation activities in accordance with District Comprehensive Plans required by 22 Pa Code, Chapter 339. The percentage of students who, by the end of grade 11, implement their individualized career plan and participate in career preparation activities as assessed through ongoing development of a career portfolio.

Focus: Provide technical support and applied research to support a consortium of rural, small-town, and suburban districts in preparing students for productive lives after high school Stakeholder/ partner need Proposed activities Schools need support to better prepare students for regionally available careers Workshop to identify needed workforce readiness skills Infographic the top cross-cutting skills employers want in new hires Workshop – Future Ready Alliance meeting in October Infographic – align with Inflection Point Coaching – spring meeting (up to 9 districts) – research with individual district work and then generalizable to the country; could train people then to lead the technical assistance activities for the region’s districts, and to also develop a tool Applied research – lots of research around workforce readiness skills STEM Industry focused – both for workforce pipeline and to be STEM literate Coaching to examine needs in regionally growing workforce sectors and their implication for curriculum Applied research examining alignment of math and science curricula with valued workforce skills
