2. Why its needed…
As an industry leader in offering practically based instruction by experienced educators, Johnson & Wales University has an opportunity to fill a void in its educational leadership degree programs. Currently, the University only offers a doctorate in educational leadership focusing on either k-12 or higher education and therefore leaves a hole in the potential ability for current students, staff and faculty to obtain a quality graduate degree from the institution in which they attend or work that is focused on the type of work they are doing. This offers an opportunity to increase the University’s exposure globally by adding a program which connects to other Universities in the manner this one would.

3. About the Program…
The proposed Online Student Affairs Masters program has been developed to support the mission of the University as well as maintaining the standards outlined in the University’s accreditation from the New England Association of Colleges and Schools. The program will be housed at the Providence campus under College of Arts & Sciences and overseen by the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences in conjunction with the Dean of Continuing and Online Education. There will be a department chair and one full time faculty member who will teach all of the courses for the program if they are not ones already offered for another degree. The program will be offered completely online with students completing interactive assignments through the platform or at their own locations.

Please note that in some instances the policies for the distance education program already exist at the university, therefore they will be cross-referenced within this manual.
