EMPATHY MAPS Why would I use empathy maps? It’s a great tool to help you build empathy with your personas by imagining their environment. Celeste
16
ACTIVITY : EMPATHY MAPS
What we want you to do: How to fill them in Think & feel? - What are they thinking or feeling in the space? Hear? - What can they hear in the space? See? - Whats going on around them, what can they see? Say & do? - What are they saying or doing in the space? Pains - What are some of the fears or pain points in the space? Gains - what are the advantages of using the public space? Rachelle
17
ACTIVITY : EMPATHY MAPS

Celeste
19
Challenge: Breaking mindsets and language
If you begin a sentence with… “No but...” “We can’t/couldn’t do that…” “We don’t have the budget...” “But regulation...” … reward yourself with 5 star jumps!
20
Rapid ideation Why would I use rapid ideation? Rapid ideation is a way to come up with a range ideas in a short period of time. Giving yourself time constraints, forces you to be focused and stops brainstorming going on endlessly. These session you can run with people in your community to help you solve problems. Celeste
21
Ideation rules NO BIROS - There are textas on your tables.
NO IDEA IS A BAD IDEA - Even in the craziest idea, there can be greatness. DRAW IT - It’s a super strong communication skill and it’s quick too, a stick man can explain more than a few words. NO BUDGETS, NO REGULATIONS, NO LIMITS - This is a space to grow ideas. No good ideas come from budget spreadsheets. PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION! HAVE FUN! Celeste

You have 5 minutes to come up with 8 ideas, only 1 idea per piece of paper. Don’t write an essay - draw it. 3. Quantity over quality, don’t spend ages making it pretty, focus on heaps of ideas 4. Think of your persona - what would help them? How might we better connect the community, through public spaces Celeste
