In 1888 he designed a hand camera called the Kodak to use his specially produced roll film.
In 1889 he introduced cellulose nitrate roll film ………highly flammable!
1934 – the safer film base cellulose acetate introduced
1940’s – cellulose triacetate was introduced
1980’s – polyester film bases became the norm
Since 1889, a large number of roll film formats and lengths have been introduced
