What can we learn from these passages?
It is ok to be frightened. Jesus was. It is ok to fail. The spirit is willing but the body is weak. The disciples fell asleep but later succeeded. The importance of forgiveness. If we fail we can be forgiven Importance of prayer. Jesus prayed and succeeded. The disciples did not and so failed. Jesus predicts his death. God is in control. Suffering can be part of God’s plan

Shows Problems Easy to fail
Even Jesus struggled with his mission- it is hard to be a disciple The body is weak- they could not stay awake Repetition of prayer. Sometimes we have to keep asking and we still don’t get the answer we want

If we fail we can be forgiven Just because we are suffering, it does not mean that we are evil or that God has abandoned us Jesus was in control then and is in control now It shows that they may endure pain and suffering If Jesus struggled then we will have to struggle If the disciples failed then how can we trust them
