In 2011, Canada spent approximately $29.9 billion on domestic research and development. As of 2012, the country has produced fourteen Nobel laureates in physics, chemistry and medicine, and was ranked fourth worldwide for scientific research quality in a major 2012 survey of international scientists.

Languages Canada has two official languages: English and French. Approximately 98 percent of Canadians speak English or French, 57.8 percent speak only English, 22.1 percent speak only French and 17.4 percent speak both.
