Location of Fire Safety Forms
On the Shared (S:) Drive Resources RPS Fire Safety Forms Copy and paste into folder address bar: S:\Resources\RPS\Fire Safety Forms Here you will find the Fire Activation & Fire Drill forms for traditional communities and FGH. Also located here are the Fire Drill announcement form, Post Fire Drill inspection notice, & Fire Drill procedures. Random room numbers are located here as well. These are updated by the Security Coordinator before the beginning of each semester.

Fire Safety Drill Procedures
Pre-Planning Announcing Follow-through Challenges Documentation Must be held at least once every semester within three weeks of the beginning of the semester. Evacuations as a result of false alarms may be considered fire drills if the evacuation was properly conducted in the judgment of the Area/Senior Coordinator.
5
Fire Drill Report Fire drill reports should be completed, as thoroughly as possible, immediately after activations occur and sent to: the Area/Senior Coordinator Security Coordinator (Ricky Young) Director of RPS (Rick Gibson) Associate Director for Residence Life (Rob Perez) Associate Director for Staff Development and Student Conduct (Keener Scott).
7
Fire Drill vs. Fire Alarm
How do they differ? Challenges Documentation Treat every alarm as if it’s a real fire. How do they differ? No planning, exit building, no random checks. Everything else should be the same. Students should have to move away from building to designated spots.

Fire Alarm Activation Report
Activation reports should be completed, as thoroughly as possible, immediately after activations occur and sent to: the Area/Senior Coordinator Security Coordinator (Ricky Young) Director of RPS (Rick Gibson) Associate Director for Residence Life (Rob Perez) Associate Director for Staff Development and Student Conduct (Keener Scott).

When Others Arrive Students Undergrad staff Grad/Doctoral Staff
Pro staff Police/Fire Department It’s important to discuss what to do when students are trying to get back into the building, when undergrads are standing around in the building not sure what to do or even worse, when they do into the building trying to find the issue. The CA-RA staff will not be trained to put out a small fire they may come across on the hall with an extinguisher. All staff should evacuate along with the other residents. The CA-RA staff should be outside with residents showing them where their meeting places are and should be ready to check IDs or keys upon reentry. Grad/Doctoral/Pro-staff need to be on site as quickly as possible to assist emergency responders as necessary. Building wide alarms should alert the police automatically, however you should call the police to ensure they have received the alert at dispatch. Once emergency responders arrive, they have the scene and grad/doctoral/pro staff should assist as requested but stay out of the way. In the event of an actual fire, the grad/doctoral/pro-staff should give emergency responders the list of students who may need assistance upon arrival. This list should always be at the front desk and should be updated regularly to include other disabilities that could hinder a resident from being able to exit in a timely fashion.

Audience Questions What are all the steps/processes involved in the scheduled fire drills? If our building fire alarm sounds during the night, can we avoid calling the Pro Staff on-call since we are already on site to reset the panel? Or do we need to call them? What are the differences between the RHD and AC roles?
