Involved from original EDC pilot with Strathclyde university, yes about play but also about focussed teacher directed learning, teacher initiated learning activities and child initiated – exploration, choice, enjoyment linking in to 7 principles. Strong practice recognised by EDC and LTS, P1 pupils filmed for national conference. Developing in P3-5
Assessment is not just about tests. Attainment in June 09 R 96% W 98% M 96% + significant numbers of children achieving levels early
Formative assessment – help pupils to improve their learning – Learning intentions/success criteria/think time/feedback & next steps/self & peer assessment, mistakes are good, talkabout learning

Strong commitment to self evaluation, working in partnership eg parents provide info, take views eg questionairres/focus groups, work in partnership, thanks to outgoing members of Parent council for advice/support and encouragement.
All got same aim – to prepare our young people for the challenges of life in a 21st century Scotland.`
