14 Create your “Colleges I’m Thinking About” List
Family Connection (Naviance) College Tab Use SuperMatch under the colleges tab to explore colleges Create college list in your “Colleges I’m Thinking About” page Be sure your “Colleges I’m Thinking About” list includes a colleges that range from Reach and Reality schools.

15 NHS COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1. Log into your Family Connection. Click on “Colleges”, then click on “Colleges I’m Applying to” and add desired colleges to your list. 2. If applying to Common Application schools follow these steps: Create an account on Common App website. View video (on Family Connection home page) for how to match Family Connection to Common App. Complete the FERPA release in Family Connection.  In addition to teacher recommenders, you must also request your counselor as a recommender through Family Connection, not Common App. NOTE: If applying to only one Common App school and that college gives both Common App and institution application option, use the institution application.

16 NHS COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCEDURE
3. Complete application and transcript request online through your Family Connection page once you have applied to the college. Counselor and teacher recommendations require 5-7 working days to process. 4. If ACT/SAT scores need to be sent directly to prospective colleges, go to or collegeboard.com to request submission. Guidance department support for college applications begin on August 28, 2017

17 NCAA/NAIA Eligibility Center
Set appointment with counselor to review transcript and requirements. Register on-line at for the NCAA or for NAIA. Send transcript to NCAA and/or NAIA through Family Connections. Send ACT/SAT scores directly from the testing center.

18 KEEP Your Family Connection Page Updated!
Report all admission updates from your prospective colleges. Remove colleges no longer applying to.

19 Scholarship & Financial Aid
Explore Family Connection scholarship resources under the Colleges tab Financial Aid Websites Scholarships grfoundation.org/scholarships.php fastweb.com scholarships.com cappex.com/scholarships Also, regularly check the Scholarship list in Family Connection.

20 Tuition Incentive Program (TIP)
TIP Eligibility- Received Medicaid coverage for 24 months within a 36-consecutive month period between the ages of 9 and high school graduation. TIP covers cost of tuition credit hours at most community colleges and a select group of 4 year colleges. For more information go to TIP information sheet

Rigorous course selection Aggressively recover any missing credits Maintain good study habits Stay motivated and engaged in school Be proactive with college process (deadlines) Communicate with parents, counselors & colleges Visit guidance webpage frequently for important student information Keep in mind…making sound DECISIONS will lead to satisfying and successful EXPERIENCES.
