1. Soldering Safely
A soldering iron should always be considered hot and handled with care at all times.
All injuries must be reported to the teacher at once.
Never touch the tip of the soldering iron to check to see if it is hot. Use a piece of solder
Place soldering iron in the soldering holder when done.

2. Work in a ventilated area.
The sponge is used to clean the tip of the soldering iron.
After soldering you should wash your hands. Solder is made of lead.
Tinning is when the soldering iron has some melted lead on it.
Wear Safety Glasses when at the Soldering Station
Wear Shop Apron when Soldering

3. Keep soldering iron in its stand when not in use.
Horseplay is not permitted at anytime in the classroom.
Keep soldering iron cord away from the soldering iron tip at all times. It will melt the cord.
Your building buddy should be watching what you are doing when soldering.

4. A good solder joint should be shiny and look like a volcano.
When soldering, place the soldering iron down on the joint count to three or five and apply solder.
Heat sinks are used to protect electronic components such as transistors.
