All the people on board the plane were killed. 1 passenger and 1 flight attendant were stabbed before the plane crash.
Debris from the crash were found up to 8 miles away
There were supposed to be 5 hijackers, but one of them, Mohamed al Kahtani, was held back by a immigration officer in Florida
Bob Taft said this about the heroes of flight 93: “We will never forget the passengers of Flight 93, who courageously confronted the terrorists, defeating another planned attack on America. They are the heroes for our times.”
The memorial for Flight 93 cost about $60 million

3. Flight Details
The plane was planned for Newark, New Jersey, to San Francisco, California, but crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania
Plane took flight at 8:42 am
There were about people aboard plus the 4 hijackers

4. Terrorists/Hijackers
There were four hijackers in the plane: Ziad Jarrah- 1B, Saeed al Ghamdi-3C, Ahmed al Nami-3D, Ahmad al Haznawi-6B. The hijackers were part of a group called “al-Qaida” that was in charge of the attacks of 9/11. They were able to sneak in knifes and box cutters. When they started the hijacking they put on red bandanas.

5. The Beginning
Flight 93 didn’t know that the world trade center was attacked until 9:23 am .
The hijackers didn’t start the hijacking until about 40 minutes after the plane started its journey, or at about 9:28 am
At around 9:32 am Ziad Jarrah said “Here the captain, please sit down keep remaining sitting. We have a bomb on board. So, sit.”
Passengers called family on AirFones to let them know about the hijacking.

6. Fighting Back
At around 9:40 the passengers aboard the plane started making a plan to “jump” the hijackers.
At around 9:57 the passengers started their incursion.
The hijackers, in attempt to shake the passengers, sharply turn the plane side to side and up and down.

7. Crashing the plane
The hijackers were scared that passengers were going to get into the cockpit soon so at 10:02 a voice said “Yes, put it in it, and pull it down” The other hijackers chanted “Allah is great” as the plane turned right and started to descend.
The airplane was traveling at 580 mph and was directed at Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

8. Todd Beamer
Todd Beamer was one of the main people to make the plan to jump the hijackers. At around 9:45 he tried to call his pregnant wife, but couldn't get through so he called a GTE operator Phyllis Johnson. Phyllis and than forwarded the call to Lisa Jefferson and tells her about the hijacking, he also told the operator that one of the terrorist has a red belt with a bomb attached to it, and two others had knives, and he saw them go into the cockpit and close the door behind them. He also told her about the passengers plan to jump the hijackers, then he put the phone down and was heard saying to the other passengers “Are you ready? Okay, lets roll.”. President bush used Beamer’s last words in a speech in 11/2001. Todd beamer and all the heroes on flight 93 will forever be known for their bravery.
