CULTURAL / HISTORICAL ESSAY
The paragraph essay must be included for each country in the correct page of your booklet. (Brazil: p. 6, Colombia: p. 9, Cuba: p. 12, Honduras: p. 15, Peru: p. 18) The essay should be about any cultural element of that particular country. For example, a particular dish the country is known for, a musical style, a type of dance, a holiday or celebration, a national sport, a religion, etc. If you do not want to write about culture, you can write a paragraph essay on a historical event for the country. 12

CULTURAL / HISTORICAL ESSAY
The essay must be written in your own words. DO NOT plagiarize (taking credit for someone else’s work) websites or books. Doing so will give you a ZERO for the assignment. You do not have to stick to one cultural element for all the countries. For example, you do not have to write about food for each country. You can mix it up and write about Cuba’s religion and Brazil’s samba. If you want to focus on history instead of culture, make sure your essay should be about any historical event of that particular country. For example, the Bay of Pigs for Cuba, or the Spanish Conquest for Peru. 12
