Overview of Event Logistics Volunteer Roles What to do on September 21st

3 Human Library at ISU Provide a shared and structured opportunity for students to become more self-aware and respectful of differences. Exclusively first-semester freshmen who are enrolled in Learning in Communities and Success 101 seminars and transfer students in the Transfer Student Seminar.

4 Human Library at ISU Event runs from 9 AM to 7 PM
Books scheduled based on their availability Students choose 2 Books Groups of up to 7 per Book 30 minute sessions, time for Q & A 8-9 Bestsellers in 1W Lounge

5 Volunteers… Check in at the Founders’Suite in the Bone Student Center, minutes prior to your first shift Pick up your HL shirt (for wear that day) Attire is casual (as in, you may wear jeans with your HL t-shirt, if that works for you ) Nametags will be provided, you may also wear your ISU nametag if you’d like. Snacks will be provided throughout the day  Parking validation will be offered for those who need it.

6 Human Library Committee
Spotlight Room is Human Library Central A committee member is assigned to each volunteer area and will serve as leads. Each volunteer area and committee lead will be equipped with a HL packet of information. (Map, Master Schedules, etc.)

7 Student Check In BSC Concourse area under the “dome” Split by alphabet
Labels preprinted, volunteers verify Explain Check out process

8 Book and Volunteer Check In
Founders’ Suite Preprinted schedules for each Book and Volunteer Verify and have them initial check in Explain check out process Return to Founders’ Suite & complete program evaluation

9 BSC Greeters and Check In Traffic
Stationed in the concourse Assisting students to their appropriate check in area by alphabet Answering questions

10 Brown Ballroom Traffic
Individuals will assist with greeting students as they enter and assisting with traffic flow out of the ballroom. Keep noise to a minimum if sessions are in progress

11 Student Waiting Area After check in, students may hang out here or they can return at least ten minutes before their session begins. Volunteers can assist with answering questions and assisting staff with getting students seated for each session.

12 Evaluations Assistance
At the conclusion of each session, students will move to the east area of the Brown Ballroom to complete a program evaluation Volunteers will help with the collection of them and moving students to the correct exits.

13 Book Monitors Volunteers help ensure that sessions run smoothly and help us take care of our Books! Keep track of time during each session Assist with moving students from tables to evaluation area.
