7 SG16 Mandates and Lead SG rolls
Areas of study ITU-T SG16 is responsible for studies relating to ubiquitous applications, multimedia capabilities for services and applications for existing and future networks. This encompasses accessibility, multimedia architectures, and applications; human interfaces and services; terminals; protocols; signal processing; media coding and systems (e.g. network signal processing equipment, multipoint conference units, gateways and gatekeepers). Lead Study Group rolls in specific area of study SG 16 is Lead Study Group on; multimedia coding, systems and applications ubiquitous applications telecommunication/ICT accessibility for persons with disabilities intelligent transport system (ITS) communications Internet Protocol television (IPTV) and digital signage e-services, such as e-government, e-health and e-education

9 Q27/16 Overview Title Tasks
Vehicle gateway platform for telecommunication/ITS services and applications Tasks Tasks include but are not limited to: – studies on the use cases and requirements in terms of services/ applications and functions to support V2V, V2I, V2D, and V2P; – studies on the use cases, requirements and functions of vehicle gateway and its reference model(s); – studies on the open interface between VGP and in-vehicle network; – studies on the open interface between VGP and ICT devices; – studies on the relevant necessary protocols to support vehicle-oriented services and applications; – studies on road safety and automated driving; – maintain deliverables under the responsibility of the Question: ITU-T F.749.1; HSTP-CITS-Reqs. An up-to-date status of work under this Question is found in the SG16 work programme

10 SG 16 updates since last CITS meeting

11 Joint Q27/16 & Q6/17 meeting Experts of Q27/16 (Vehicle gateway) and Q6/17 (Security aspects of ubiquitous telecommunication services) met jointly on 2 September 2016 at ITU Both groups recognized that; feedback will be exchanged for the harmonization of terminologies used in Draft Rec. ITU-T X.itsec-1 (by SG17) and Draft Rec. ITU-T G.VGP-ARCH (by SG16), the necessity of drafting Technical Paper jointly to give the guidance for the potential readers of both recommendations, the draft Technical Report on “Secure Over-the-Air Vehicle Software Updates Operational and Functional Requirements” requested from CITS should be published under the responsibility of Lead Study Group on ITS (namely by SG 16), necessity for the continuation of regular joint coordination meetings

12 SG 16 in Study Period Draft study plan of Question H/16 (continuation of Q.27/16) was approved at WTSA-16 held in Hammamet, Tunisia as explained in SG16 Overview Mr. Zhong LUO (Huawei Technologies, China) was appointed as the new Chairman, together with 7 vice chairmen, for study period The details of new SG16 structure (Working Parties, management team, etc.) will be approved at next SG 16 meeting (16-27 January 2017, Geneva) The number of Question for Vehicle Gateway should most likely be the same as it had been (Q.27), and also for Rapporteur SG16 will participate in CITS coordination and collaboration actively as has been
