1 Student Onboarding Triage Protocol

2 Student Onboarding Health Triage Protocol
When a participant presents at a screening site, participant disposition is determined according to the following criteria: Emergent CALL Refer to ED for immediate Care with clinical symptoms Same day PCP/Urgent Care for asymptomatic presentation Notify supervisor Emergent BP ≥180/≥110 Clinical Presentation – e.g. chest pain, facial drooping, slurred speech, headache, visual disturbances, or other symptoms concerning for MI, or stroke. This is a suggested protocol. This will vary with every institution and should be discussed with your institution and person providing screening oversight. Urgent/Convenient – referred to PCP If PCP or student health services cannot see within 2-3 days, refer to local urgent care for evaluation and interim care for stabilization. Then refer on to PCP or student health services from urgent care setting. Notify supervisor Urgent/Convenient BP ≥ /≥ without any current symptoms Non-Urgent BP /90-99 Elevated cholesterol Abnormal BMI (>30) Current smoker with readiness to quit Reports elevated stress Non-Urgent – refer to PCP or student health services for follow-up within 1-2 months. Provide with personalized wellness resources

Urgent/Convenient BP ≥ /≥ without any current symptoms Urgent/Convenient – refer to PCP/Student Health Services If PCP/Student Health Services cannot see within 2-3 days, refer to local urgent care for evaluation and interim care for stabilization. Then refer on to PCP/Student Health Services from the urgent care setting. Notify Supervisor

5 Risk Stratification & Triage – Non-Urgent
BP /90-99 Reported elevated cholesterol in past or never had a cholesterol screening Abnormal BMI (>30) Current smoker with readiness to quit Reports elevated stress Non-Urgent – referral to PCP or Student Health Services for follow-up within 1-2 months. Provide with personalized wellness resources
