1 Writer’s Workshop (for a written poem, short story, etc.)
1. Hand out a copy of your writing to each member of the group. 2. Read piece of writing, and mark the paper with suggestions, grammar errors, etc. 3. Complete a set of questions for each paper. 4. Decide which piece of writing to discuss first. 5. Author reads part of their writing out loud. (Then the author becomes “invisible”). 6. Two members summarize the writing (keep it concise). 7. Group discusses strengths of the writing. 8. Group discusses what to improve on (constructive suggestions). 9. The author becomes “present” again and can ask the group questions about the comments. 10. Group returns papers to the author. 11. Repeat for everyone else.

2 Writer’s Workshop (for a spoken word poem)
1. Hand out a copy of your spoken word poem to each member of the group. 2. Author should perform their poem for the group, and one audience member needs to be timekeeper. The timekeeper will write times for each person on a post-it note (Then the author becomes “invisible”) 3. Complete a feedback form for each person. 4. The group should look over the poem after the author has performed it, and write down suggestions in the margins. Look out for any spelling errors as well. 5. Two members summarize the poem (keep it concise). 6. Group discusses strengths of the performance. 7. Group discusses what to improve on (constructive suggestions, and use your responses on the feedback forms to help with this discussion). 8. The author becomes “present” again and can ask the group questions about the comments. 9. Group returns papers to the author. 10. Repeat for everyone else.
