1 How should my book look? Thursday 2nd March 2017 World Book Day!

2 We are learning to plan the characters, settings and plots for writing our World Book Day stories.

3 What is your favourite story and why?
Word bank: characters, plot, settings.

4 Let's get our creative juices flowing...

You may want to think about the following questions: What is happening? Who is the main character? What is the theme of the story? Do the characters encounter a predicament? Compare your ideas with your partner! Let’s share our ideas and see what we have come up with as a class…

5 Now you may watch the video…
Are you shocked or surprised at the outcome? How much does the reality differ from what you thought the story would be?

6 What does each stage of a story mountain represent?
Does an ending always have to be happy? What other techniques could you use with an ending?

7 Plot the story of the Highwayman at each point of the mountain
Which is the most important point of the story mountain? Trick question! They are all as equally as important. Why?

8 We will be writing a story on the theme of…
How many stories can you think of that follow this theme? Remember: a hero doesn’t always need to be a ‘superhero’! What theme runs through all four of these books? TTYP
