You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those that persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly father is perfect.

If someone strikes your cheek, turn to him the other
If someone takes your cloak, let him take your tunic as well
Do to others as you would have them do to you

Live in harmony with one another
Do not repay anyone evil for evil
As far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good

8. John 13:34
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

9. How do we love our enemies?
Understand the love Jesus has for us As sinners we were all enemies of God (Romans 5:10)
Let ourselves be changed by the work of the Holy Spirit John 14:15-31, John 16: Jesus promises to send his Holy Spirit and some of the work he will do in our lives Gal 5:16-26 – The fruit of the spirit or characteristics of a spirit filled life
