2 Overview Estate Owned by: Raffaella Rossi and Riccardo Garosci
Wine Region: Piemonte Winemaker: Donato Lanati Total Acreage Under Vine: 5 Estate Founded: 2002 Winery Production: 36,000 Bottles

3 Location The winery is located in Fubine Monferrato, THE best location for Barbera d’Asti 2 single vineyards, 2.5 acres each, producing estate grown Barbera d’Asti. Fubine offers a favorable climate for the cultivation of grapes with its layers of clay-rich soil in potable water that nourishes the vines with calcium. The hilly southwestern exposure ripens the grapes to perfection.

4 Barbera d’Asti DOCG Barbera is the most planted red varietal in Piemonte 2 appellations, both DOCG: Asti and Alba Within Asti, the Nizza-Monferrato sub-area is know for the best Barbera in the region Barbera d’Asti usually yields juicy, racy and vibrant wines that are perfect for the local cuisine of cured meats and stews Barbera d’Alba is usually more structured, concentrated and complex, with longer aging before release from the winery Considered in the past a quaffable wine with high acidity, Barbera was reinvented in the 1970s by a handful of quality oriented producers, who experimented with oak aging Most Barbera vineyards have been replanted with a focus on lower yields (lower acidity) and better agricultural practices Today Barbera is one of the most sold Italian red wines

5 History With a passion for fine wine, Raffaella Rossi and her husband, Riccardo Garosci, founded Villa Remotti in 2002. Raffaella owns and runs a successful dentist practice, while Riccardo is a famous government consultant. Both have a great passion for fine wine. They purchased this beautiful villa in the town of Fubine Monferrato. An archeological investigation revealed that vines had been growing on this estate for two thousand years.

6 History Being novices to viticulture and the business of wine, Rossi hired Giorgio Caroscio, a local grower and winemaker with decades of experience in growing Barbera on this land. Caroscio is directly involved in the cellar, and has applied his artisanal expertise in transforming the estate to meet demands of their niche market of restaurants and wine shops. The winemaking consultant is one of Italy’s most famous wine-makers, Donato Lanati.

7 Philosophy Villa Remotti is an artisanal, specialized producer of Barbera d’Asti. Their philosophy is simple: only the best vineyard practices, and the outmost attention to detail in winemaking, will yield wines with unique character and flavor profile.

8 Winemaker Donato Lanati Born in Voghera, in 1953.
In 1961 his family moved to Cuccaro Monferrato. Graduated from Enology School of Alba and later at the Agriculture Faculty of Turin. Became Professor of Technological Enology at the same University and a world renowned consulting enologist at leading wine estates of Italy and the world. Founded Enosis, “L Universita del Vino di Donao Lanati”, an innovative laboratory devoted to analysis and research of native grape varieties.
