The process of collecting information on pressures:
Directive introduces the concept of significant pressures (important within the basin or the water body). Directive requires to collect and maintain records on all significant pressures (Member State can collect records on all pressures and subsequently only identify some of them as significant). The requirement can be implemented in two stages: 1) Catalogue of all pressures (and driving forces) 2) Screening to identify significant pressures Reasons: - there is a very wide range of pressures (variable type and magnitude) - it is not sensible or realistic to consider all pressures within the scope of analysis Method for selection of the important pressures and driving forces is required. Collecting of informations – two stages

Situation in CR: wide range of information + many producers, not all necessary data are available yet all data will be concentrated on Povodí companies part of data is required to collect by current legislation ( Water Act Water Authorities permits for water uses) Data providers: Water Research Institute T.G.M. – pollutions, vulnerable areas, landfills, abstractions, loss of water, water use, hydrogeological characteristics, discharges, Povodí companies + water authorities – pollutions, fish farming, abstractions, morphological changes, erosion, water recreational use, water managment, discharges Czech Hydrometeorological Institute – industrial pollution, other diffuse point source pollution, water flow, abstractions, vulnerability of groundwater water bodies, hydrogeological characteristics, stratification, Situation in CR Data providers

Private water companies – loss of water, sludge treatment
Czech Statistical Institute - agriculture pollution, agriculture abstraction Czech Ecological Institute – other point source of pollution, toxic pollution, geology + soil types, landfills Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health – pollutions, fish farming, water quality, land use, water recreational use Private water companies – loss of water, sludge treatment Governmental Order – pollution Problems: incomplete data (some sources of pollution, water use, …) providers not identified yet (estimates of diffuse sources pollution) Data providers Data problems

Screening for Significance

Recapitulation of the Directive objectives:
The issue of significance must be considered in relation to all objectives of the Directive. Recapitulation of the Directive objectives: Prevent deterioration of the status of all bodies of surface water; Protect, enhance and restore all bodies of surface water with the aim of achieving good surface water status at the latest by 2015 Protect and enhance all artificial and heavily modified bodies of water, achieve good ecological potential and good surface water chemical status at the latest by 2015 To progressively reduce pollution from priority substances and ceasing or phasing out emissions, discharges and losses of priority hazardous substances Directive objectives
