A KEY TO FAITH AND SERVICE
THE MIND OF CHRIST: A KEY TO FAITH AND SERVICE
2
Eph 1:18-23 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead
3
and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. 22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
4
Eph 2:4-6 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
5
Phil 2:5-8 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man,
6
He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Being equal with God is not something Christ forcefully clang to, why? He knew that He was and that humbling Himself to die wouldn’t change that. We ought to think the same, that we are sons and that trials or serving others do not take that away.
7
Phil 2:5-7 5 Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. 6 He had equal status with God but didn't think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. 7 Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! (from THE MESSAGE)
8
John 17:22-23 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. He gave us His glory so that faith is for serving, not proving ourselves.
9
Col 3:1-2 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Being seated with/in Him, we have to think like Him, seeing things from His angle: resurrected, healed, victorious, reigning, exercising authority!
10
Rom 8:6-7 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. Thinking about life from the human angle leads to strife and death. Looking at it from God’s angle leads to life and peace.
11
1 Cor 2:16 16 For "who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ. Christ is no more an aloof God seated far off, high above. We are now partners. We are His body and we have His mind.
12
When dealing with God, we have to be single minded; Christ minded!
James 1:6-8 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. When dealing with God, we have to be single minded; Christ minded!
13
Rom 12:2 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. The call of renewing our mind is simply to shift from the human perspective to God’s perspective; to think like God!
14
What would happen if instead of: Giving to God, we gave like God
Talking to God, we talked like God Working for God, we worked like God Serving God, we served like God Loving God, we loved like God
