3 Possessed or Possession?

4 What Do You Own? (Ecclesiastes 3:13) and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor-it is the gift of God.

5 What Do You Own? (Deuteronomy 10:14) "Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the LORD your God, also the earth with all that is in it. (Psalms 50:12) "If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all its fullness.

6 What Do You Own? (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

7 Learning Contentment (1 Timothy 6:8) And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. (Hebrews 13:5) Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

8 The Dangers of Riches It Causes Some To Fall (Matthew 13:22) "Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

9 The Dangers of Worldly Riches
It Causes Some To Fall (Genesis 1:29-30) And God said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. "Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food"; and it was so.

10 The Dangers of Worldly Riches
It Causes Some To Fall (Genesis 3:6) So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

11 The Dangers of Worldly Riches
It Moves Some to Defraud (Genesis 31:7) "Yet your father has deceived me and changed my wages ten times, but God did not allow him to hurt me.

12 The Dangers of Worldly Riches
It Makes It More Difficult to Get to Heaven (Matthew 19:22-23) But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

13 The Positive Side of Material Possessions
We Have the Opportunity to Be Good Stewards (Luke 12:32-34) "Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. "Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

14 The Positive Side of Material Possessions
We Have the Opportunity to Be Good Stewards (Luke 12:47-48) "And that servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. "But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.

15 The Positive Side of Material Possessions
We Can Provide for ourselves and our families. (1 Timothy 5:8) But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

16 The Positive Side of Material Possessions
We can help others less fortunate. (Ephesians 4:28) Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.

17 The Positive Side of Material Possessions
We can help others less fortunate. (1 John 3:17-19) But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.

18 The Positive Side of Material Possessions
We can help others less fortunate. (Romans 15:26-27) For it pleased those from Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are in Jerusalem. It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things.

19 The Positive Side of Material Possessions
We can help others less fortunate. (Galatians 6:10) Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

20 The Positive Side of Material Possessions
We can share with those who preach the gospel. (1 Corinthians 9:11-12) If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things? If others are partakers of this right over you, are we not even more? Nevertheless we have not used this right, but endure all things lest we hinder the gospel of Christ.

21 The Positive Side of Material Possessions
We can share with those who preach the gospel. (Galatians 6:6) Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.

22 Developing the Right Attitude
(Matthew 6:19-21) "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; "but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

23 Developing the Right Attitude
(1 Timothy 6:7) For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

24 Developing the Right Attitude
(2 Peter 3:10) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

25 Developing the Right Attitude
(Matthew 16:26) "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

26 Developing the Right Attitude
(Colossians 3:1) If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.

27 Developing the Right Attitude
(Luke 12:22-31) Then He said to His disciples, "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. "Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. "Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? "And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? "If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious…

28 Developing the Right Attitude
…for the rest? "Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. "If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? "And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. "For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. "But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.
