2 Working with Movies Working with Movies is fun, creative and using Windows Movie Maker is the easiest way to Create you own Custom Movie. Before looking at different features you should know the following. This is the Clip Window which shows you all of the clips you are using in your Custom Movie. This is the Movie Preview area, where you can view what your movie will look like This is the Movie Task area where you can select options Import Video. This area is known as the Storyboard or Movie Timeline. These big boxes are known as Frames are used to Insert movie clips. These little boxes are known as Transitions and can be used to add special effect between different Frames e.g. Fade In to the next clip

3 Importing a Video from an External Location (e.g. Common Drive)
Click on Import Video Using the file system find the location of your video. All the Year 7 PE Assessment Videos can be found on the Common Drive under ICT-PE Cross Curricular Videos. Once you have Imported your video you need to Drag your clip down into the 1st Frame of the Storyboard. You must do this other wise you cannot do anything to your movie.

4 Producing Movie Titles and End Credits
Once you have dragged your clip into the st frame your storyboard should look like this. You now need to start customising it and the best way to do this is by adding your own Titles and Credits. Select Titles and Credits from the Tools Menu which will then give a few options. You are going to use the 1st and Last Options. Click Add Title at beginning of the movie and follow the instructions. Once you have created your titles you can create you End Credits in exactly the same way. An example can be seen below of the steps you need to take below. Once you have added your Titles and credits you should notice that you now have three frames. Click Add Title at the beginning. Input your titles and Click Done Input your End Credits and Click Done Preview your movie by clicking Play

5 Using Transitions to Separate Frames
Transitions are a good tool to separate different frames because they move from each different frame with a Special Effect. Using the Tools Menu Select Video Transitions. Once you have selected this option you will notice that you now have a variety of different Transition effects. Select the transition you want drag it down to the Transition boxes which should be in between you Titles, Movie Clip and End Credits. The order in which you should complete this shown in the example below. No transitions With 1st transition – then drag the 2nd transition into the box.

6 Saving Custom Movies as Movie Files

Follow the instructions below: Using the File Menu Select Save Movie File Then click the Option ‘My Computer’ You now need to tell the Computer where to Save your Movie, make sure it is in your User area!
