Slave Voyages Database
You will use an online database to do historical research. Go to to begin your research. Follow the directions carefully. When you are finished, brainstorm a list of people and businesses that might have been making money from the slave trade.
6
Early Finishers Find another group that has finished. Compare your lists of people and businesses that might have benefited from the slave trade. Are there differences? Can you add more to your own list? Create a list of questions you like to “ask” the database. Try to create queries that will help you answer those questions.

Wrap-up
8
Create a class list of people who benefited from slavery.
Looking at the list we’ve generated, are you surprised by the extent of slavery? Why or why not? Refer back to your answers to the question earlier in class, “Does slavery play a substantial role in the economy of Britain, New England and the South.” Were your predictions correct? Why do you think they were or weren’t?
