This is one of the most important aspects of the lessons that go with the underground railroad theme What is bullying? How does it relate to the fifth grade class? some of the information you will learn through this unit does not apply to today’s society This will prepare students to handle the topic of racism with maturity Make sure to say that this is an important base for students to begin at and that the topic of slavery and the Underground Railroad cannot be discussed until the students can grasp this lesson. Include briefly explaining plan for the students to create an anti-bullying video of their own.

4 Relating bullying to discrimination and Racism
Bullying is similar to discrimination and racism students will learn that treating people in different ways based off the color of their skin is wrong They will understand that at no time during future lessons, or in the rest of their life, is it acceptable to repeat any hurtful words or phrases learned throughout this unit This is another serious part of the overall lesson. Make sure the audience knows how serious this is and how much it means to you as a teacher and as a person for your students to understand and to not participate in racist actions and thoughts
