Step 1 - Take a position on the given topic.
Write a solid thesis statement. Brainstorm numerous examples that support your position. Develop these positions fully by using evidence from real life, research, or from the novel (depending on your topic).

Step 2 - Consider the opposite position on the given topic.
Brainstorm numerous examples that would negate / refute your thesis. Develop these positions fully by using evidence, just as you did for the other side. Then, convince readers why the opposite view is not as strong as yours.

Step 3 - Conclude with a call to action
Convince readers that something should be / should have been done with regards to your topic. Briefly sum up the reasons given in your stand as to why people should support your views. Concede that the other side has valid points, but that your arguments are stronger because of x, y, and z.
