1 Art Detective Conclusions By Francisco G, Sebastián K and Julian F

2 Fiona Featherduster showed me a picture of the painting
I compared the picture to the ones of the list grandpa had left when he died. The list had the following artists: Raphael; Titian; Millet; Van Gogh; Gauguin and Picasso I got to the conclusion that it was a millet painting, by comparing by: Color: "The colors in both paintings are subdued. Millet took his colors from nature. He avoided bold and intense colors. He wanted it to look real and natural, not necessarily pretty."  Composition:  "Millet shows depth using perspective, but he's not in love with it the way those Renaissance guys were. Same with your painting.“ Style:"The brushstrokes obviously match. They're not as smooth as Raphael's, but not as thick and rough as Van Gogh's either." Subject:"Both paintings show hardworking rural folk firmly outlined against a flat land and sky. Millet helped develop a style called Realism. Realists thought traditional religious and mythological subjects were a bad idea. They said artists should only use subjects that they can see. They shouldn't paint things found only in the Bible or stuffy history books."

3 a week later, when I received a postcard from Miss Featherduster:
After I convinced her, sirens wailed outside. I turned to look at her, but she was gone. Ruby, my secretary, came into my office and showed me morning’s tribune. The headline said: Maid Cleans House, steals Priceless Millet Painting Late last night Arthur Cole Lechter's ninety-four room mansion on Bay Front Blvd. was robbed. The items taken include cash, jewelry and a priceless painting by François Millet. His maid, a Fiona Featherduster, is the chief suspect.  a week later, when I received a postcard from Miss Featherduster: "Dear Detective Pintura," it began. "I do so appreciate your help in identifying my painting. I guess I can't call it my painting anymore, since an art dealer in Milan took it off my hands for a very agreeable sum of money." "I still remember what you said about Millet--that he only portrayed the lives of honest, hard-working folk. What do you think he'd say if he knew his painting had helped me leave that life behind me forever?"
