2. What is the session about?
Giving you advice and guidance on online activity
Explaining different types of social media
Giving you a way of reporting concerns
Explaining what we’re doing at Compass to keep your children safe
Giving you information to take away to refer to at home

3. What is compass school doing to keep your children safe?
All staff are educated about e-safety on a regular basis
Your children receive e-safety education once a half-term to ensure that the latest information is provided to them

4. What is compass school doing to keep your children safe?
All staff sign e-safety and social media policies and adhere to strict guidelines on their own online activity including the following:
NOT friends with any students
NOT disclosing anything to do with Compass school on their own social media pages
NOT able to access social media using school computers
NOT allowing students to use staff computer logons under any circumstances

Refer to guidance on major websites or contact your service provider – they all offer different features

Look up information about individual social networking sites
Know how to report concerns
Subscribe to newsletters from companies who specialise in keeping children safe, e.g. NSPCC, Net aware, Thinkuknow to keep you up-to-date

14. How to report concerns
Tell your child’s class teacher/tutor/safe worker at school
Go onto one of the websites and click on the ‘report abuse’ links or contact one of the parent support lines

THINK:
Is it: True-Helpful-Inspiring- Necessary-Kind?
Everything online is captured FOREVER, even if you delete it information can still be accessed
Employers regularly check an applicant’s social media presence

17. Key advice Be vigilant and monitor what you can
Talk to your children regularly and start young!
Imagine a responsible adult standing behind them – would they still post it?
If you don’t understand something yourself, try and learn about it
