3 Ken – Betwa Link Project Background
Tripartite MOU for DPR amongst Union of India, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh signed on Detailed Project Report (DPR) completed by NWDA in Dec., 2008 and sent to Govt. of MP and UP in Feb., 2009 for their comments. It was decided in Feb., 2010 that DPR will be prepared in two phases. National Water Development Agency

The DPR of Phase-I of the project completed in April, 2010. The environment, wildlife and forest clearance of Phase-I project is still to be given by MoEF. The DPR of Phase-II of the project completed in January 2014 and submitted to Govts. of MP and UP. The Ken – Betwa Link Project included as National Project. National Water Development Agency

7 Ken – Betwa Link Project - Phase II DPR and Project Details
DPR of Phase – II completed by NWDA and submitted to Government of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in January, 2014. Project consists of one dam namely Lower Orr and four barrages namely Neemkheda, Barari, Kotha and Kesari. Dam m high at Lower Orr Barrages Neemkheda, Barari, Kotha and Kesari Canal length Km Water Utilisation MCM Phase - II Project dependant on Phase – I due to substitution. 11 Environment and Forest clearance of Ken-Betwa link project – Phase-II
Environment Clearance of Lower Orr dam EIA study of the Lower Orr dam has been completed by WAPCOS as per the ToRs approved by MoEF & CC. After conducting public hearings at three places in September, 2015, final EIA report prepared including issues raised in public hearing. Final EIA Report uploaded on website of MoEF & CC on for environmental clearence. The EAC clearence proposal of Lower Orr Dam considered in the 91st meeting of EAC held on and EAC of MoEF & CC. Forest Clearance of Lower Orr Dam Form-I for diversion of forest land submitted to Collector and DFO, Ashok Nagar and Shivpuri for processing case of forest clearance. Further processing of the case for forest clearance is being done by Forest Dept, MP. After completing application form by Forest Department, MP, same will be submitted to MoEF & CC with their recommendations for issuing forest clearance. National Water Development Agency, MoWR
