Video Consulting: Availability Video consults are available for members from 7:00am to 9:00pm member’s local time, 7 days per week. Video Consult Child Consult Hearing Impaired Patient plus Guardian

6 Access to video Log on to the provider2 site and make sure you are available for phone and video. All video consultations will appear in your Scheduled Consult Queue. Simply “Accept” the request, and click “Start” to open the video consultation. You can access the video consultation 5 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. You will be required to download and install a plug-in. After installation, you will be able to see yourself in the lower right corner of the video window. Once the patient joins the video consult, a “Start Call” button will appear. Press it to be connected with the patient.

8 Video Tips When possible, place your video camera on your monitor above where the video window appears on the screen. This improves the perception of eye contact. Beware of the “gaze angle”. Just like being in person, it is important to look up at the camera to maintain eye contact with the patient. Maintain eye contact. Keep the area well lit by adding a desk lamp in front of your face just behind the monitor. Turn on the light.

9 Video Tips Wear proper clothing.
Muted solid colors, like pale blue or yellow work best when presenting. Avoid bright whites and contrasting patterns such as stripes or checkered prints. Wear proper clothing. It is best to slow down your natural hand or head movements, and use slow, smooth gestures to avoid appearing jumpy. Slow down. A security warning will display asking you to allow the video to access your webcam and microphone. To stop this warning from displaying, right click the video window and select “Settings”. On the Privacy tab, check the “Remember” box under “Allow”. Close the “Settings” Window. Remove security warnings.

11 Convert Consult from Video to Phone
If the video is not working, on your end or the patient’s end, please call the patient and ask if they would like to complete the consult by phone. You will not need to cancel or reschedule the consult if completing by phone. Just simply proceed with the consult.

13 Video Window The video window will display a larger image of the patient and a smaller image of you.

14 Video Window Under “Settings” ensure that the video is set to “Directshow Capture” and that the microphone is connected to the microphone on your computer.
