PRESENTATION BY SUB-GROUP TWO IDENTIFY A REAL LIFE PROBLEM IN A BUSINESS CONTEXT CLEARLY STATING THE PROBLEM STATEMENT INNOVATIVE AND CREATIVE WAYS OF SOLVING THE PROBLEM MR. LEEFORD AMEYIBOR

OBJECTIVES INTRODUCTION PROBLEM STATEMENT CONTENT INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS
CONCLUSION REFERENCE

INTRODUCTION Transportation is one of the factors of the service sector that contributes to the GDP of a nation. It is simply the means of conveyance or travel from one place to another either by air, car, and trains among others. For instance, in the olden days people used to travel on horses, camels, donkey or either by foot but the adventure of technology has made people to travel in an easier and faster way. In Ghana, the major means of transportation is by car and motor bike or by flight.

PROBLEM STATEMENT Difficulties in accessing the major roads due to heavy traffic as a result of poor direction by the traffic regulators and the poor supply of electricity. Problem of place of convenience. Difficult customers. Lack of proper maintenance.

CONTENT The difficulty in accessing the major roads are as a result of heavy traffic from the station to the main road and by so doing customers’ requirements will not be met on time and this will be a cost of quality. Heavy traffic do cause some drivers to find their own ways into the major roads and by so doing minor accidents do occurs which involves police investigation and intervention as a result, causes waste of time to both the driver and the passengers.

CONT Place of convenience (toilet and urinal) is another problem that faces the transportation station in Madina. Both drivers and passengers finds it difficult to walk from the main station to a distant place to ease themselves. For instance, either the passenger or driver has to wait for a person who is in need of a place to ease him/herself since he/she has to go to a very far place and this also causes waste of time and reduces the number of rounds the drivers goes per day and by so doing both the customer requirements and the organization’s will not be met and this is also as a result of cost of quality.

CONT A depressed person tends to prove difficulty at the station when they experience rudeness from either the driver, ‘mate’ or other inmate passenger. Also when a passenger is charged a higher faire, it may provoke the passenger and as a result, customers’ requirements are not met.

CONT Lack of proper maintenance is as a result of lack of quality control. Under quality control, management set target based on customer requirement and expectations. It is known as fitness to use. Per our analysis, most of the cars are not in a good condition to render the service adequately. It is also due to lack of total productive maintenance.

INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS Electricity being the main source of energy in many business operations, the innovative solution for the inconsistent automatic traffic light as a results of erratic power supply is to provide an automatic solar system to back the smooth functioning of the traffic light.

CONT As a results of lack of place of convenience and a place to construct a new structure, per our analysis on solution to provide an alternative way, mobile toilet and urinal should be provide at a convenient place.

CONT Problem with difficult customers can be solved if the drivers are tolerant towards the actions of the passengers. Since the customer is the king and have legs (options), his decision should be taken into consideration, drivers should be submissive to the customers in order to satisfy his/her needs and wants in order to avoid conflict of interest.

CONT A garage should be provided at the station with skilled mechanics to check the condition of various cars to ensure quality control and anybody found to act contrary to this should be sanctioned.

CONCLUSION The transportation service sector should be given more concentration since it contributes more to the GDP of a country and also lives of the people are being carried from one place to another and due to how precious lives are, the transportation sector should be of good quality. Also there should be good road network in order to facilitate the smooth running of vehicles from one place to another.
