1 Welcome to your first Live Session on Adobe Connect

2 What is Adobe Connect? Why are we using Adobe Connect for this course?
Adobe Connect is a robust web-conferencing solution that allows instructors and students to meet in real-time. Adobe Connect allows instructors to share instructional content, administer polls, and interact with students via webcam and microphone. Students can utilize features like hand raising, the chat pod, and on-mic commenting to participate in class. Adobe Connect also provides breakout rooms, spaces for student-to-student interaction. Why are we using Adobe Connect for this course? Canvas integration: One click access through your Canvas course site Quality of offerings: Robust functionality provides a host of participation options Stability: Interface allows for sharing of various document types while supporting multiple other functions 

3 What controls do I have as an Attendee?
Mute/Unmute your microphone (if granted by the Host) Turn on/off your webcam (if granted by the Host) Raise hand / use status changes View Participant list Chat – private chat with individuals or everyone in meeting

4 How can I test my audio? If you want to test your microphone before class begins or need to configure your audio you can click on the “Audio Setup Wizard” found under the “Meeting” menu in the upper left In the setup wizard your microphone and audio will automatically be muted so you can make the following adjustments: Step 1: Test sound (output) Step 2: Select mic (input) Step 3: Record and playback your voice Step 4: Tune out background noise

5 How can I participate during the meeting?
Raise Hand - notifies host and shows a prompt to simulate hand raise Step Away - use the Step Away status to let the class know you are not in front of your computer at the moment Virtual Etiquette – “raise your hand” if you would like to turn on your microphone and wait to be called upon. Please mute your microphone whenever you are not speaking to prevent background noise.

6 How can I participate during the meeting?
Private Chat - If you are having technical issues, please reach out to your online support person via private chat by hovering over the support person’s name and selecting “start private chat”. Chat Pod – send messages to the entire class in the “Everyone” tab. Private chats will populate in adjacent tabs, with the name of the recipient

7 How can I use breakout rooms?
Your support person will move you automatically into breakout groups You should choose one group member to take notes on the notepad, and another to represent the group for report back Typically, instructional slides will appear to guide your group activity You can use the chat pod to communicate with group members Your support person or instructor will periodically send messages with time warnings or additional information You will be returned to the main room automatically, where class will continue

8 How do I reach out for troubleshooting?
Private Chat - If you are having technical issues, please reach out to your online support person via private chat by hovering over the support person’s name and selecting “start private chat”.
