On April 19, 1775, British soldiers marched on Lexington Green on their way to seize the patriots arsenals in Concord. The colonial militia lead by Captain John Parker had been waiting for the British just in case the Redcoats marched on to Concord. Patriot soldiers stood still while the Regulars insulted them. During the next few moments the British started shooting first, and killed several colonial men. According to the official sworn testimony, written under oath of John Parker, commander of the Patriots, “A number of Regular troops were insulting my men, but I told my soldiers not to shoot but to disperse.” This shows that Parker was in a good position on the green to have seen the British fire at his men who were running because Parker saw British when the Redcoats rushed in furiously. Furthermore, Parker said, “Don’t meddle with the Regular troops,” This was an order by the commanding colonial militia, soldiers would certainly have listen to their commanding officer. Equally important, thirty-four colonial militia gave the exact same sworn deposition. For this reason, right after the British entered on the green, all colonial soldiers had been in the same location as they viewed the first volley of shots . The colonials had not yet dispersed to another location. Patriot soldiers definitely had seen the Regulars marching toward them. Patriot soldiers viewed the muskets on fire. All in all, colonial soldiers experienced their comrades killed and wounded because they had not yet made the escape to another place on the green. Consequently, the British had been on a mission to Concord, the goal was to have seized the colonial weapons; to have disarmed the Patriots. Redcoats were determined to not have allowed any soldier to block the way. Any colonial that might have stopped the objective was meant to be fired upon and killed. Edit your own power paragraph. Make sure all verbs are in ONE tense. Go ahead, try…
