Copy the chart on page 32 into your notebook. Make sure you have enough space to write!! Complete the chart. Read the prose and the poetry pieces. Mark the two passages for the following: Diction Imagery Syntax Inferences about the speaker based on VOICE Answer each of the “key ideas and details” questions in your “my notes” section

Individual Entry Task: Turn to page 37, and fill in the chart. The chart will have you collect details of the differences between the story and the poem. Read through and complete the “Parallel Structure Activity” at the bottom of the page. This should be review – we have already looked at parallel structure this year!

Individual Work: Writing prompt How long? Write however much you need to, in whatever format, to fully answer the prompt. Turn it in at the end of class. Retell the story of Luis Rodriguez and his brother being beaten up by the older boys, but through the perspective of a different character. Change the speaker, and maybe the audience and/or format. Use your RAFT chart and the interview that you and your partner practiced on Tuesday.
