2 Mrs. Walker’s Background
* Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from University of Memphis. * National Board Certified as Exceptional Needs Specialist. * 25th year at Killearn Lakes. Also, have taught in Georgia, Virginia, and Japan. * Married 37 years. * 2 children and two grandchildren! * We enjoy traveling- especially to Little Rock to see the grandchildren!

Students are encouraged to bring their own headphones. They will be kept in their backpacks for personal use with the new laptops.

8 Agrirama Georgia’s Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village opened as the Agrirama on July 4, 1976. Agrirama is our first field trip. We will travel to Tifton, Georgia, where students will experience life on a turn-of-the-century farm. The cost is about $40.

12 Citizenship & Work Study Habits
The behavior and work study grades from the purple folder directly coordinate with your child’s report card. No Surprises on Report Cards! E = Excellent! S = Satisfactory N = Needs Improvement Not reaching an AR goal drops a child’s grade in Work/Study.

13 Homework You may help, but first encourage independent work.
Students will have homework Monday – Thursday; it is written daily in the planner. 100 minutes of AR reading/week. They will be expected to study for tests (not just the night before!) You may help, but first encourage independent work. Remember -> Homework is your child’s responsibility! It is CRUCIAL for students to learn responsibility and organization BEFORE middle school.

17 Birthdays PLEASE 24 ALL same flavor/color 
We love cupcakes and birthday celebrations. Just give a little advance notice, and we can help your child celebrate the big day at snack time. If you decide to bring in a special treat, please remember to include NAPKINS PLEASE 24 ALL same flavor/color  *Please don’t send party invitations to be passed out at school UNLESS you are inviting the whole class. Students have feelings that get hurt easily when watching some people get invitations…and they aren’t invited. Thank you for your understanding.

19 Personal Hygiene *Our 5th graders are getting to the age where it’s time to start wearing deodorant. *We go to PE from 8:40-9:30, and the kids come back VERY hot and sweaty. *24 plus bodies in one room can get very “odor-riffic”

20 EXTRA Information Afterschool activities and special area teachers are in the cafeteria. Please stop by to check out what KLES has to offer and meet your other teachers.
