Check-in procedures #1 Transition Area 2 | Finish Venue
Deposit running shoes and equipment INSIDE your numbered box in the recovery area. ITU Technical Officials will place your shoes and running gear in front of the box All boxes will be placed on the side of the rack closest to the exit of transition Coaches may place athletes running shoes in rack position Spare wheels to the Chief Wheel Station TO at Transition Area 2

Check in procedures #2 Bike Check – before entering Athlete’s Lounge
Refer to 5.2 in competition rules Handle bars with clip-ons Wheels (non authorized UCI wheels rule) Spare wheels Bike frame Helmet Saddle position (-5cm≤ Men & -2cm≤ Women) Random 25% Technological Fraud Check Approved exceptions on ITU website Approval for the addition/modification of any equipment to the bike, MUST be obtained from the RACE REFEREE up until 10 minutes from the end of this Athletes’ Briefing Mechanic service available at athletes lounge

Check in procedures #3 Athletes Lounge
Uniform & race gear check (name, country, logos, ITU logo, zippers) – photos taken of each uniform. Wearing other uniform during the race = DSQ! Body marking check (both arms, both legs) Timing chip distribution Swim cap distribution, Leave bags in the Athletes’ lounge (use gear bag sticker) – your bags will be moved to the Recovery Area by the LOC All used swim kit and last minute pre-race gear will be bagged from TA1/line up area and moved to athletes recovery at the finish.

Check in procedures #4 Transition Area 1 Helmet check – Do not leave your helmet FASTENED on the bike in the transition The athlete who does not comply with this rule will receive a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1.

Pre-start procedure Athletes’ Introduction
10 minutes before start – line-up next to the pontoon Jog to the swim platform when you are introduced Select your position and stay behind the line Blocking two positions – DSQ

Start procedure Athletes in position:
The start can be given any time after the Starter announces ”On your mark” Air horn The race starts Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1.

False start procedure False start Example: Several horn blasts
Kayaks in front of you Everyone goes back to her/his spot Valid start but with early starters: If someone starts before the horn and everyone else starts with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1. (During the time penalty athlete cannot touch any equipment!)

Run penalty box Run penalty box is for infringements in: Swim, TA1, Bike and TA2 For example: swim conduct, mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, equipment outside your box, rack the bike outside your own space, etc. Transitions will be video recorded for infringements Location: Just before the entrance to TA2 Information: Blue and white board to show race numbers (Athletes need to read the board) Procedure: 15 second time penalty served on any lap of the run. If you do not stop to take the penalty - DSQ

Post race procedures Photo-finish
No congestion in finish area: go to mixed zone/recovery area For Top 3 & Series Leaders: TV/Flash Interviews Medal Ceremony Media “Mixed Zone” Dress “up” – with race uniform (or country clothes) coaches assistance needed: Ambush marketing rules apply Prize money will be wire transferred to the athletes.

Ambush marketing rule Ambush marketing is defined as:
“Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to acquire additional exposure for your sponsor product, apparel or brand.” The consequence for this behavior is that the athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money for that event, if any. Please follow the ambush marketing rules

Post race procedures Anti-Doping Control
Photo ID is needed for every athlete to go for testing. Team Medical Access Only team medical will be allowed to enter the medical tent after ITU Medical Delegate’s permission. Every NF can have 1 team medical accreditation. Team doctors should register with the ITU Medical Delegate. Team Medical Doctors’ Meeting Team Medical Doctors’ meeting after this briefing with Medical Delegate and LOC Doctor.

Coaches’ Area Accreditations will be distributed to those that have been entered through the online system by their NF These Coaches only will have access to: Athletes’ Lounge area Beside the Swim start area Beside TA1 Beside TA2 Recovery area

Coaches’ RUN ACCESS Vests are provided to these coaches by Chief Run
One coach per NF is allowed to have access on the elite run course for 30 minutes from 15:15 – 15:45 Vests are provided to these coaches by Chief Run All the coaches will meet at Transition 2 and start at the same time from the same start point – near dismount line Coaches who require this access, must register with the TO following the athletes’ briefing

Two Go Pro cameras can be placed on two athletes Images will be used on the post race production, with credit on the athlete carrying the camera The camera will be mounted at the front or the back of the bike If interested, report to the officials at the race package distribution
