4 Lesson Goal Introduce students to the traditional 39 categories of work prohibited on Shabbat. Challenge students to create modern categories of work that reflect their lives and engage them in a dialogue about increasing their own observance of Shabbat by disengaging from one or more of those activities.

6 Torah Quotes Heaven and earth, and all their components, were completed. With the seventh day, God finished all the work (melakha) that He had done. He ceased on the seventh day from all the work (melakha) that he had been doing. God blessed the seventh day, and he declared it to be holy, for it was on this day that God ceased from all the work (melakha) that he had been creating to function. It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel for ever; for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He ceased from work and rested Exodus 31:12-17
