Framing the Frameworks: Integrating IT Governance Structures and Processes RUW CONFERENCE ON WOMEN AND SOCIETY April 2016 Dr. Humam Elagha College of Information Technology Royal University for Women Kingdom of Bahrain April 20, 2016
2
Main purpose of the Research
The development of a conceptual IT Governance framework. The framework builds on the integration between IT governance domains, IT governance maturity, IT governance mechanisms, and IT governance performance. The framework is aimed to help board members, general managers, business line and IT executives to understand, measure, and manage IT governance in their respective organizations as a part of enterprise governance. 2
3
Main purpose of the Research
The Research examines the relationship between IT governance domains, IT governance maturity, IT governance mechanisms, and IT governance performance. 3
4
Research Problem and Questions of the Study
What IT Governance domains contribute to mature IT Governance in Firms including Financial Services, Manufacturing, Telecommunications and Public service? What IT Governance Mechanisms contribute to effective IT Governance in Firms including Financial Services, Manufacturing, Telecommunications and Public service?
5
Overview of the Research Framework and the Major Hypotheses

Major Research Hypotheses
H1: The maturity of IT Governance Domains will positively influence the level of IT Governance Maturity. H2: The existence of IT Governance Mechanisms will positively influence the level of IT Governance Performance. H3: The Level of IT Governance Maturity will positively influence the level of IT Governance Performance. Business application needs
7
The Research Design Research Approach: Research Population and Sample:
This study follows Deductive and Quantitative approaches Research Population and Sample: The target population for this study is Emirati Firms including financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications and public service. Business application needs
8
The Research Design The Respondents of the Study Executive Viewpoint
Business Viewpoint IT Management Viewpoint IT Operations Viewpoint Compliance Viewpoint Risk of bias is eliminated. Business application needs
9
The Research Design Data Collection Method
The primary resource of data in this study is the questionnaire to measure the research’s different variables (Research instrument). Stratified sample type was chosen in this research. The response rate was 60% and accepted for the research purposes. Business application needs
10
The Research Design Statistical Methodology:
The collected data from the questionnaire was analyzed using SPSS and SmartPLS 2.0 software. Business application needs
11
DATA ANALYSIS AND RESULTS Partial Least Squares (PLS) Path Modeling
The Structural Model The structural model defines the relationships between the latent constructs. The Measurement Model The measurement model defines the relationships between the latent constructs and the indicators.
12
DATA ANALYSIS AND RESULTS Partial Least Squares (PLS) Path Modeling
Path Model Constructed Using the Graphical Interface of SmartPLS DATA ANALYSIS AND RESULTS Partial Least Squares (PLS) Path Modeling
13
The Results Discussion
Results of Testing Hypotheses: Statistical evidence was provided to enable the researcher to accept the main and the sub hypotheses. There was no justification for excluding any of the variables from the model. These results proved the validity of the research suggested model.
14
Research Contributions
Theoretical Contributions: The most fruitful contributions of this study, is the development of a conceptual IT Governance framework. The framework builds on the integration between the structural and processes perspectives of IT governance.
15
Research Contributions
Practical Contributions: The findings suggest that the most influential IT governance domain for increasing the level of IT governance maturity is Monitoring of IT Performance Measurement. Other IT governance domains also proved to make a crucial impact on the level of IT governance maturity, such as Evaluation of Value Delivery; Alignment of Business and IT; Monitoring of IT Resources, Risks, and Management; and IT Governance Development.
