Get Amateurs Involved Now
GAIN Group Get Amateurs Involved Now
2
Recruitment & Retention
There are 300 hams in Androscoggin County, the AARC comprises only 25% of that population. We need to find out why amateurs are not getting or staying active. Newer technologies are more attractive to consumers than amateur radio, however, these technologies have been used by the hams for years, even decades.

Capture New Hams Immediately!
Too many hams go through the hard work of passing their test only to go by the wayside. New hams need guidance immediately, from the second they pass their respective test. The GAIN group should make a checklist for newly licensed hams to guide them through their journey.
4
GAIN Group Checklist Contact information for a local Elmer to include Name, Address, Call Sign, Phone Number, and Frequently monitored frequency. Contact information, address and times of local radio club organizations, meeting places and events. Guide of where affordable equipment can be obtained. List of frequencies and on-air resources.
5
Take Care of our Own There are hams who are less fortunate, have mobility problems, are unable to climb their towers or may just need an extra hand to maintain their equipment. The GAIN Group can help with different degrees of maintenance to keep hams on the air throughout the year. Perhaps the club can form a fund that would help get newly licensed hams on the air that may not otherwise be able to afford it.

Great Opportunity to Get Active
The GAIN group is a great opportunity for those who may not like to get on the air to still be active with the hobby. The GAIN group is instrumental in getting this club moving in the right direction. This hobby is what you make of it. Let’s make it something we can be proud of.
