2. On September 11th 2001, America was attacked by Al-Qaeda.
There were massive causalities, the most destructive being the attack on the twin towers in New York city.
I am going to present to you some of the events of that day.

3. This is New York city before the attack.
The two large buildings in the picture are the twin towers of the World Trade Centre
These were once the tallest buildings on the planet.

4. At 8:46 AM a plane, hijacked by members of Al-Qaeda, was flown into one of the towers.
People thought it was an accident.
Little did they know that the worst was yet to come.

5. At 9:06 AM another plane was deliberately flown into the second tower.
Surprisingly, the people working in the other tower were still working.

6. With both buildings on fire , emergency services frantically tried to evacuate.
At this point, people were starting to run.

7. Then, at 10 am, the first tower collapsed.
At this point many people died.

8. After the second tower colapsed, a total of 2977 people were killed or unaccounted for.

9. Emergency services worked tirelessly to search for survivors .
Despite the scale of the tragedy, the people of New York pulled together to help each other.

10. Today, there is a memorial where the twin towers were so that the people of New York can pay their respects to the people that they lost that day.
