Early Life Born October 31st 1961
Grew up in Pukerua Bay and attended Kapiti College Interested in film from a young age and started making his own after the family was gifted a Super 8 cine- camera by family friends Loved J.R.R Tolken's books and King Kong was his favourite film

How He Got Involved Has no formal training
Learned through trial and error Wanted to make films after seeing King Kong Started as a child using the family camera to make short films with films

Was to produce a $128million film about the Halo franchise but this failed and turned into District 9 Currently directing The Hobbit He has also won the rights to a film adaptation of the fantasy novel series Temeraire

Uses NZ locations for most of his work and tries to get NZer's involved in his films He is a common role model among up and coming NZ film makers His contribution opened NZ up for the world to see our sense of humour
