Conduct OER training on new OER Consultation (e.g. Special OERs) Review/validate/process all active duty OERs (approx 12,000 per year) Expedite OERs for Selection Boards / Post-Graduate Panel candidates Provide input for BCMR/PRRB applications Develop and implement system changes as necessary to maintain a healthy system (i.e. new ENS OER, etc) Managers of OSMS – Officer Specialty Management System

CG authorized in law to promote, to small degree, with regard to officer specialty/skill Mock boards were conducted in 2016 SCS will be available starting in the summer of 2017

Provide career counseling In depth knowledge of promotion and assignment system Impartial career advice and guidance with OPM without actually discussing with AO Communications to Board and Panels

Understand the jobs on your e-resume prior to submitting. Contact incumbents, OPM-4 or AO early in the process. Limit comments to short/long-term goals, assignment preferences & pertinent factors (COLO, Sp Needs). The e-resume is NOT a starting point for negotiations- it should stand on its own. Contact AO if you update your e-resume after the deadline (we are not notified by DA) 20

29 Final Thoughts JO’s need to do long-term career planning beginning at the O2/O3 level “Jumping” into career paths requires flexibility but is still possible The collective qualification level and proficiency of each community/specialty is on the rise Exceptional performance is still the key to success Shopping List in DA for Command Concerns
