Installation of PV systems to provide electricity to rural communities in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak Total Capacity – 2.2 MWp Cost – US39 million Approx. 11,600 installations – rural houses (longhouses), rural health centres, community halls/centres, rural churches, mosques, etc Project financed fully by Malaysian government System supplied by BP Solar

RPS – 5% or 600 MW by 2005 SREP – Small Renewable Energy Power Launched in May 2001 Capacity of 10MW or below utilising renewable resources esp. biomass 53 applications had been approved by end of 2003 Total new capacity approved 284 MW Currently 2 such facilities have concluded PPA with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Contract period - 21 years Tariff – sen/kWh Source – biomass and landfill gas
