What Is Medicine? The science or practice of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease (in technical use often taken to exclude surgery).

Examples Of Medicine Morphine : Used In hospitals for strong pain relief. – But is illegal on the streets. Aspirin : a synthetic compound used medicinally to relieve mild or chronic pain and to reduce fever and inflammation, usually taken in tablet form. Caffeine : an alkaloid compound which is found especially in tea and coffee plants and is a stimulant of the central nervous system.

What Is Addiction? Addiction is defined as a chronic, relapsing brain disease that is characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences. It is considered a brain disease because drugs change the brain; they change its structure and how it works.

How can alcohol affect your body
Alcohol can cause high blood pressure (hypertension), which increases the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. It also weakens heart muscles, which can affect the lungs, liver, brain and other body systems, and also cause heart failure.

How can Heroin affect your body
Heroin binds to and activates specific receptors in the brain called mu- opioid receptors (MORs). Our bodies contain naturally occurring chemicals called neurotransmitters that bind to these receptors throughout the brain and body to regulate pain, hormone release, and feelings of well- being.
