Old Testament examples: Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.”

Old Testament examples: Isaiah 1:3 “An ox knows it owner, and a donkey its master’s manger, but Israel does not know, My people do not understand.”

Old Testament examples: Isaiah 5:13 “Therefore My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge; and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude is parched with thirst.”

Old Testament examples: Jeremiah 8:7 “Even the stork in the sky knows her seasons; and the turtledove and the swift and the thrush observe the time of their migration; but My people do not know the ordinance of the LORD.”

Old Testament examples… Without proper watchfulness, maintenance, and nourishment, we can destroy ourselves for lack of growing knowledge. 1 Corinthians 3:1; Hebrews 5:12

By growing in obedience to God’s commandments (1 John 2:3-6).
Knowing God and obeying Him are inseparably connected. By keeping His commandments/word a Christian is being perfected (vs. 3, 5). By adhering to His Word and word. Daily walk as He walked (v. 6).

By growing in godliness, in the nature of God (2 Peter 1:2-4).
True knowledge grants us the resources to produce godly living. (cf. Titus 2:11-12) Proper devotion characterized by a God-ward attitude of being, doing and living well-pleasing to God. The Excellent One called us by His excellence and commands us to add diligently excellence [virtue] (2 Peter 1:5).

By growing in a deeper understanding of what Christ did (Philippians 3:7-11).
Paul was passionate about his aim of gaining Christ. Knowing Christ Jesus is of surpassing value – that is knowing the road He walked. By participation (cf. Phil. 2:5-8) By sacrifice and suffering By attaining glory (cf. Phil. 3:21)
