The core problem is not that we are too passionate about bad things, but that we are not passionate enough about good things.

Luke 10:  As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

1 John 2:9  Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness.
1 John 3:  This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

1 John 4:12  No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
