Dr Shailesh Puntambekar is a cancer surgeon specialized in laparoscopic cancer surgery.
Heads “Galaxy Care Hospital”, centre for advanced laparoscopy and Robotic Surgery in Pune.
Pioneer of Robotics Cancer Surgery in India.
He invented the Lap Radical Hysterectomy for cancer cervix which is known as ‘Pune Technique’ around the world.
He is a faculty at the AAGL (American Association of Gynaecological Laparoscopy) and member of the AAGL Oncology Committee.
For his pioneering work in Laparoscopic Cancer Surgery, on an international level, he has been awarded the “Distinguished Surgeon’s Award”, at the “International Surgical Olympics” at Beijing China in the year 2009.
Has performed surgeries in live surgical workshops in India as well as in Germany, England, France,Romania, Turkey, Israel, Pakistan, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Australia, Mexico, Srilanka,Bangladesh and Greece.
He is also appointed to the position of Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town for a 5 year period.
