Introduction: A. We may over-simplify the Christian life. 1. Reduce it to picking from list of do’s and don'ts. 2. Often fail to consider that even the do’s must be in proper order - first things first. B. Certain situations described in Scriptures where we need to learn to put first things first.

Faith AND Baptism First, then Salvation
And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” Mark Discussion: I. Baptism First, then Salvation. (Mark ) Faith, yes John 8.24 “For if you believe not that I am…” Repentance, yes Luke 13.3&5 “Except you repent…” Confession, yes Romans “For with the heart…” But without baptism You are not in Christ Romans 6.3; Galatians “As many of us as have been baptized into Christ…” [next slide]

Kingdom of God First, then Necessities of Life

Give Yourself First, then Money or Goods
And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God… For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have. 2 Corinthians 8.5, 12 V. Give Self, Then Money or Goods. (2 Cor. 8:5, 12).

Take Care of Own Needy First, then Ask the Church or Others
But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show piety at home and to repay their parents; for this is good and acceptable before God. 1 Timothy 5.4 VI. Take Care of Own Needy, Then Ask Church or Others. (1 Tim. 5:4).

Purity First, then Peace
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. James 3.17 VII. Purity, Then Peace (Jas. 3:17).

" Mark Conclusion: A. No order for doing the wrong things - proper for right things. B. Nothing should come before obeying the gospel of Christ.
