What is Quality Assurance & Quality Improvement?
Quality Assurance Quality = Standards Quality Assurance = Way to warrant those standards are met Quality Assurance is a first step on the way to Quality Improvement. eg. maintaining a certain level of quality that is acceptable and then not slip below that level. Quality Improvement Quality Improvement is a continuing and dynamic process to review, critique and change in order to make education better eg. making changes that increase quality continuously – my performance is this, how can I get better and better? Beginning course details and/or books/materials needed for a class/project.

STUDENT VOICE – METHODS USED
Individual level Tutorials Individual feedback through SPOCS (student perception of course surveys) Department level Module feedback(improve future module) Student rep (voice concerns about course) Institutional level Voice of student union (acknowledge students’ concern & offer other services) Online feedback Complaints/compliments (all levels) Why students’ voice matter? Because they are Customers Advertising agents A list of procedures and steps, or a lecture slide with media. = INCOME GENERATOR

TEACHER VOICE – METHODS USED
Individual level Appraisals, reviews Progress meetings Discussions with line manager (authority to make changes) Department level Staff meetings and recommendations (voice and share concerns collectively) Institutional level Teachers’ unions eg. ATL, NUT, NASUWT Why teachers’ voice matter? Because they are Providing the service to the customer/student eg. delivering the course efficiently for students to achieve the best possible grades A list of procedures and steps, or a lecture slide with media.

Conclusion Is there a need for Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement in education? Yes, as it helps to maintain a benchmark for standards in delivering the course and increasing and improving those standards however, teachers are forever being assessed through Ofsted and appraisals but is their voice really being heard? Conclusion to course, lecture, et al.
